Important update from Ports of Auckland.
POAL is suspending operations from 3:00pm today due to Cyclone Gabrielle.
Ports of Auckland is monitoring the weather forecasts and preparing for the arrival of the Cyclone.
The safety of everyone and the port infrastructure are the highest priority.
Details on changes to operations are below:
- Port operations, including R&D, will be suspended from 3:00pm today, Sunday 12 February.
- There will be a skeleton crew on-site for emergencies.
- All cargo vessels have already been sent to anchor or sea as agreed with the Harbour Master (AT) and Ship Masters.
- The cruise ship Arcadia will remain berthed at Queens East.
- All other vessels remaining berthed at POAL (barges, fishing boats, navy etc) must have additional lines in place and have people on board or on stand-by.
POAL expect the pause on operations to continue through to Tuesday morning at the earliest but could continue through to Wednesday. They will be assessing the situation regularly and will continue to update stakeholders through operational advisories.
