As you will no doubt be aware, the government announced that New Zealand was moving to phase 3 of the level red framework from 11:59 pm Thursday 24th Feb. Nexus Logistics continues to put plans and processes in place that will assist in mitigating the impact of the Omicron variant on our operations
Ongoing measures include staggering our drivers start times, breaks to minimise contact, daily deep cleans of cabs, PPE, and contactless delivery where possible. Added to this we are now conducting RAT tests for all operational staff prior to them beginning a shift and following government guidelines if positive results are returned
At our Auckland Inland Hubs similar precautions have been implemented with teams operating in pods to limit those that could be potentially exposed as Omicron spikes in case numbers across the country. Our priority is to protect our staff and to ensure that we maintain our ability to service containers through our facilities
As we plan over the coming weeks, any indications as to volume changes or shifts in capacity that you are anticipating would be greatly appreciated for us to better manage our assets and stage containers in the most efficient manner
With Omicron now embedded within the community, the strain and congestion on the supply chain has been evident with absences of drivers and devanning crews in particular. We would strongly recommend that you ensure you have discussed this with your shipping lines and have the appropriate detention terms for your containers. This congestion will be outside of our control and Nexus Logistics will be unable to accept any demurrage or detention that results from these delays.
The team at Nexus Logistics would like to thank you for trusting us as your transport solutions partner, whilst these are trying times, we are confident by working together, we will be able to ensure we come through this as we have in the past.
