Nexus Logistics would like to update you on the continued constraints we are facing across the supply chain.
Significant delays and congestion are still being experienced putting pressure on all aspects of supply chain operations. The Ports of Auckland, Metro Port, and Auckland metro container depots all remain at capacity, resulting in significant delays and adverse impacts on productivity and service, as well as an increase in costs.
While capacity at the container depots changes on a daily basis, transport companies are still regularly unable to dehire empty containers. The following sites are impacted:
- Hugo Johnson: UCL and MCP are working on restricted bookings
- Metrobox: turn time for dehires and pick-ups between 2 – 3 hours
- Specialised: turn time approximately an hour for dehire and pick up
We strongly suggest that you talk to your shipping lines to increase free time and/or mitigation of charges. A minimum of 14 days detention free time with preferably 21 is best to avoid additional charges.
We will pick up your empty containers upon your instruction in order to allow operational continuance on your site and, where possible, we are hubbing containers though SAFH (South Auckland Freight Hub). This initiative provides Nexus Logistics customers business continuity by keeping containers flowing. However, with the dehire issues impacting the entire industry, this solution is causing a back log of containers at SAFH and does not solve the dehire lead time problem.
We are committed to providing the best service to our customers. This means we need your support in ensuring you get your bookings to our Customer Service team well in advance of our 48-hour standard - preferably 5 standard working days in advance.
Nexus Logistics will not be able to accept any liability for demurrage, detention and/or futile trips incurred due to capacity issues, restricted bookings or as result of delays beyond our control.
