This is an update on behalf of National Road Carriers.
A very Happy New Year to you all.
National Road Carriers would like to give you a brief update on the recent interactions the NRC Ports Committee have had with POAL and other organisations.
Members of the elected committee have met with Ports of Auckland (POAL) twice over the past two months to discuss NRC members’ concerns over subjects including but not limited to VBS slot availability, road congestion and shipping line issues.
A regular scheduled monthly meeting with POAL will now take place and action points, along with preferred outcomes will be communicated to our membership. Likewise, regular scheduled meetings are in place with key representatives of the Port of Tauranga.
Regarding the recent issues surrounding empty yards, this is very high on our agenda and meetings have been organised with them for early 2019 to get an understanding of the challenges they are facing and how we, as an industry, can assist. We’ll be keeping you abreast of the feedback we receive and initiatives being discussed to remedy these challenges.
As you can appreciate, we’re very aware of the main issues you’re all facing. However, if there are any other issues you wish us to table on your behalf or require assistance with, please do not hesitate to email these concerns or any ideas to me at any stage – we’re here to assist.
