As you will no doubt be aware, a wave of Omicron and increased case numbers is currently affecting New Zealand, and in turn, the supply chain we all operate within. Nexus Logistics has re-established our plans and processes to assist in mitigating the impact of the Omicron variant on our operations.
Ongoing measures include staggering our drivers' start times, breaks to minimise contact, daily deep cleans of cabs, PPE, and contactless delivery where possible.
RAT tests will be conducted for all scheduled and rostered staff prior to shift and we will be following government guidelines if positive results are returned. Our gatehouse window will remain closed, drivers are to call the gatehouse at the window upon arrival. Therefore, there will be no paperwork (dockets / carters notes etc). Furthermore, we will not be allowing any contractors or visitors inside our hub office until further notice.
Our priority is to protect our staff and to ensure we maintain our ability to service containers through our facilities.
As we plan over the coming weeks, any indications as to volume changes or shifts in capacity that you are anticipating would be greatly appreciated for us to better manage our assets and stage containers in the most efficient manner.
From a hub / container storage perspective, we have significant capacity as opposed to when the first wave hit at the beginning of the year, but that can quickly change. This will mitigate any initial disruption we see.
We strongly recommend you ensure you have discussed this with your shipping lines and have the appropriate detention terms for your containers. This congestion will be outside of our control and Nexus Logistics will be unable to accept any demurrage or detention that results from potential delays.
The team at Nexus Logistics would like to thank you for trusting us as your transport solutions partner. Whilst these are trying times, we are confident by working together we will be able to ensure we come through this as we have in the past.
