Coordinate the movements for both Import/Export FCL and empty containers in and out of South Auckland Freight Hub. Assist operations personnel and support in coordinating the road and rail transport operations by ensuring the most cost effective utilization of personnel, trucks and equipment.
Key responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- To coordinate in the most cost effective manner all CONLINXX container moves within the Wiri Inland Freight Hub, and to assist in delivering a professional and timely container delivery service to CLX’s container customers
- To enter in all the relevant information into the computer system for both FCL’s and empty containers
- Assist in the day to day administrative functions
- Work in with the operations team to minimise detention and demurrage
- Play a leading role in site safety requirements, employee participation and site safety meetings
- Relieve other employees for annual leave, sick leave etc
- Assist other dispatchers with customer requests and work flows
- Ensure that IT systems and processes are fully utilised
- Liaise with customers and ensure the most cost effective and efficient service is provided to CLX
- Communicate, maintain and develop an ongoing and enduring relationship with customers
- Job queue monitoring
- Coordinating with reach stacker driver to release the train queue of jobs
- Compile and report on all shift related information in an end-of-shift report
- Ensure all received paperwork is collated and filed
- Coordinate site Induction for any site visitors/contactors
- Champion Traffic Management Plan
- Check for any issues against that container i.e MPI, Customs Holds, customer instructions etc
- Manage the distribution of machines servicing each queue as required for volume of jobs queued
- Work closely with staff at all levels as part of a multi skilled team ensuring effective communication
- Reasonably and consistently apply contractual terms and maintain industrial integrity in the employment relationship
- Participate in company training programs and assist with the training of other CLX personnel
- Ensure a yard check on ALL containers is made at least no less than once per week which corresponds to the WIP on hand report
- Provide any suggestions around process improvement aligned to the inland ports team
- Ensure you adhere to the company values and guidelines
- Ensure compliance with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations
Skills / Experience / Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with drivers and transport companies
- Previous experience in a call centre / dispatcher environment
- Customer service focused
- Process driven and strong organisational skills
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate Microsoft computer skills
