Nexus at Level Red

Over the weekend, the government announced that New Zealand was moving to a level red framework with the Omicron variant entering the community. Nexus Logistics has been working over the past six weeks to put plans and processes in place that will assist in mitigating the impact of the Omicron variant on our operations.

Our team have started staggering our drivers start times and breaks to minimise contact between the team. At the change of shift, we are scheduling deep cleans of cabs to ensure that the trucks are disinfected for the next shift. When onsite delivering containers, our drivers will look to minimise contact, any interaction that maybe required will take place with social distancing and the appropriate PPE. Where possible, Nexus Logistics would prefer to carry out contactless delivery to provide the maximum amount of protection for our staff. If you believe your site would be suitable for contactless deliveries or there is a change to your transport management plan during this period, please reach out to our Customer Service team.

At our Auckland Inland Hubs similar precautions have been implemented with teams operating in pods to limit those that could be potentially exposed should Omicron make its way into our business. Our priority is to protect our staff and to ensure that we maintain our ability to service containers through our facilities.

As we plan over the coming weeks, any indications as to volume changes or shifts in capacity that you are anticipating would be greatly appreciated for us to better manage our assets and stage containers in the most efficient manner.

There is no doubt that once Omicron is within the community, the strain and congestion on the supply chain will be extremely high. We would strongly recommend that you ensure that you have discussed this with your shipping lines and have the appropriate detention terms for your containers. This congestion will be outside of our control and Nexus Logistics will be unable to accept any demurrage or detention that results from these delays.

As we start down this all too familiar journey, the team at Nexus Logistics would like to thank you for trusting us as your transport solutions partner, whilst these are trying times, we are confident by working together, we will be able to ensure we come through this as we have in the past.
