Unfortunately we are unable to absorb this additional cost so we will be passing this on to any coastal shipments via Pacifica for the duration that the surcharge is imposed by Pacifica. Thank you for your understanding.
From Pacifica Shipping: Auckland Congestion Surcharge
Pacifica Shipping wishes to announce the introduction of an Auckland Congestion Surcharge.
This charge will be applied to all cargoes loaded, discharged or transhipped through the Ports of Auckland until the port company has reinstated our weekly berth window and lifted its productivity to levels that will allow Pacifica Shipping to complete its proforma cargo exchange on a weekly basis.
The MV Moana Chief is currently experiencing waiting times for berthing, labour shortages and slow productivity through the Ports of Auckland terminal equating to delays of 3-5 days per voyage. The charge will be levied at NZD 238/TEU and will take effect from voyage 4240/4241 onwards.
Pacifica Shipping does not take this step lightly, however in order to maintain a financially sustainable service we are asking that a portion of these additional costs is shared with our partners in the supply chain to ensure that this service remains financially viable in the long term.
Pacifica Shipping is proud to operate the only New Zealand flagged container vessel operated on the New Zealand coast . Pacifica provides a dedicated weekly service that allows customers a cost efficient way to move their goods around New Zealand with the lowest carbon emissions per ton/kilometre.
During the current disruptions Pacifica Shipping has not omitted any ports and continued to operate its service. It is our absolute commitment to continue to not omit ports, however, the current delays are imposing significant costs and can no longer be absorbed by Pacifica Shipping alone.
Pacifica Shipping continues to engage with Ports of Auckland on a regular basis to seek a swift resolution of the situation and to minimise the impact on our customers. Once normal berth windows are restored the congestion surcharge will be removed.
