The below is an update from National Road Carriers.
The Ministry of Transport has made the following changes to the transport of essential goods rule.
- If you have non-essential goods blocking movement of essential goods, then you should move your non-essential goods to storage elsewhere, but only move them once and only to get them out of the way of essential goods.
- This guidance now clarifies that any additional workers who assist with the movement of non-essential goods to create space for essential goods, then become essential workers for the purpose of moving those goods.
- Those goods can only be moved once AND only to a place of storage to get them out of the way of essential goods. We believe containers with non-essential goods inside should not be de-vanned, but moved to a place of storage.
