Rail Services Unavailable in November 2018 and February 2019
8 November 2018
Further to the Ports of Auckland (POAL) update on 5 November, POAL are pleased to advise that KiwiRail have managed to adjust their work plan and defer some of the track maintenance work required on-Port that would have had an effect on rail services for specified days over the coming weeks.
The work required is primarily to upgrade the turn outs from the port and is a necessity to ensure ongoing safe operations of rail services for the future.
With Kiwi Rail’s assistance POAL have managed to defer the earlier advised outages planned for Wednesday 28 November 2018, Thursday 29 November 2018, Wednesday 5 December 2018 and Thursday 6 December 2018. These planned outages will be deferred until early 2019 and POAL will update you with as much notice as possible when dates are finalised.
Due to a wider block of line, KiwiRail will need to proceed with the outages as per the below dates and we will use these dates to continue the maintenance upgrade on the port’s rail grid. POAL are grateful to KiwiRail for accommodating this late change, especially as these works are necessary to maintain an overall high level of service and are part of a wider piece of work for the network.
The following are the updated times when rail services will be unavailable at Ports of Auckland:
- Saturday 17 November 2018
- Sunday 18 November 2018
- Sunday 9 February 2019
- Sunday 10 February 2019
POAL understands that these service changes will cause some inconvenience, and we trust that you will be able to plan and work with transport providers to move cargo efficiently during these times.
